Finally, progress on ITER!

It looks like the ITER fusion project will be moving ahead with a location in France, according to this report from NewScientist. The project had been stymied in recent years by a dispute over siting in Japan (supported by Japan and the US) vs. France (supported by the European nations). Japan seems to have agreed to the French location now; no word however on the US position. The agreement on the location isn't quite final - the parties are meeting in Russia next Tuesday for an official decision on the matter. Maybe fusion will actually make some progress after all!
